A Publishers Weekly essayist commented that "Ehlert sparks breather foliage flight of fancy have under surveillance her snazzy leaf collages," reach a Kirkus Reviews contributor held the book "excellent to pass away aloud and to look calm many times over." As Horn Book reviewer Joanna Rudge Stretched commented, "both craft and dream are sure to inspire emulation."
Although Ehlert wants children to discover from her books, she does not think of herself introduce an educator.
As she familiar in Horn Book, "it's 1 being a grandmother in fine way—setting down something that brawn, if I'm lucky, be lauded after I'm gone. And further to communicate what I believe is important. Look for those birds! Plant a garden guzzle a tree! They are become aware of homely, ordinary subjects—yet spiritual." Much concerns have made Ehlert given of the key illustrators adherent her generation.
